'A showman, but one of substance and experience' - Friends, fans and colleagues pay tribute to Derek Davis
Friends, fans, and former RTE colleagues have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late Derek Davis.
The former RTE broadcaster and father of three passed away after a short illness.
Many fans have recalled fond memories of watching him after school presenting Live at Three in the 90s with Thelma Mansfield.
RTE Liveline presenter Joe Duffy tweeted, "Derek Davis RIP. To me he had the warmth,brightness and openness of summer . Condolences to his family. So sad to hear his untimely passing".
Philip Boucher Hayes echoed those sentiments with, "Derek Davis dead? I'm gutted. A showman, but one of substance and experience. Meeting him always brightened my day."
Aonghus McAnally said, "I am so sad to hear of the death of Derek Davis. One of the finest wordsmiths I ever worked with. My condolences to his wonderful family."
Former RTE colleague Rachael English tweeted, "So very sorry to hear that Derek Davis has died. A clever man, a wonderful broadcaster and a great colleague. RIP Derek."
