‘A lot of Breaking Bad characters are coming back’ for Better Call Saul second season
The second season of Better Call Saul is nigh and one of the stars of the show has revealed that cast members from Breaking Bad will appear.
Bob Odenkirk, who played Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and stars in the prequel spin off Better Call Saul, previously said the first series would not feature Breaking Bads' Walter White or other characters as the show wanted to forge its own identity.
However, we did see the return of one Breaking Bad character in Mike Ehrmantraut (played by Jonathan Banks) and the first series showed how his relationship with Saul - who was then known as Jimmy McGill, developed.
The second series, however, will see the return of more familiar faces.
“The stakes are getting higher,” Michael Mando, who plays Hispanic drug dealer Nacho, told The Telegraph.
“People’s lives are being more and more intertwined. It’ll be a little more crazy than last year… But I can tell you there will be a lot of people coming back. As a [Breaking Bad] fan I was extremely excited to find out who they were.”
Mando falls short of revealing who they will be but it's quite possible Walter White's DEA officer brother-in-law Hank could make an appearance, if not Walter White himself.
Of the new series, star Bob Odenkirk, added, “Listen, I feel very strongly that the second season is more fun, a bit more carefree. And part of that is because now we’re like, phew, we know who this guy is. He’s got a million demons, a million drives.”
Better Call Saul returns to Netflix on February 16.
