TG4 has just released glorious archive photos of Eoghan McDermott killing early noughties style
The 33-year-old enjoys a successful media career as a broadcaster for 2fm and co-host of The Voice of Ireland. But before he became the goldenboy of RTE, Eoghan tested out his presenting chops on TG4.
The Knocklyon-native started off on BBC Northern Ireland's music/chat show Imeall Gael but he admits it was TG4 that really gave him his big break. If fact, if it wasn't for the Irish broadcaster, Eoghan probably would have pursued a different career all together - in education.
"I randomly auditioned for the children's show Cula 4 when I was 19 in UCD and desperately unemployed," he said .
"I didn't think I'd a hope in hell of getting it," he admits as he did a "heinous" job in his audition.
But he did get the job and TG4 has released some glrious archive footage of the TV star's early days on screen as they gear up for their 20th anniversary celebrations.
Here's Eoghan embracing the early noughties trend of spiky hair, combat pants, studded belts and stacks of leather wrist bling.
Perfecting the finger gun pose with a novelty t-shirt and, we're guessing, there's a studded belt under there.
Mixing with *the* A-lister of the early noughties - Paris Hilton, no less.
Eoghan bravely delved into the TG4 archives to look back on his career with the Irish-language station as TG4 celebrates 20 years in broadcasting.
On Monday night, TG4XX Beo will broadcast live from 9.30pm to 11.30pm on the channel to celebrate their anniversary, which includes a live address from President Michael D Higgins.
