The Irish darling of sport, Stephanie Roche has revealed she would like to work in TV in the future.

The top footballer is hoping to capitalise on the exposure of being nominated for the Puskas Goal of the Award in which she finished second last month.

"The thing is, I don't have a lot to fall back on, but I am interested in working in TV," she revealed.

"I enjoy that side of things and it is something that I haven't thought about before, but have been thinking about lately.

"But I don't know. I haven't been to college so it is hard for me to just walk into a job. Football will still be first no matter what I do though," she added.

Stephanie (25) recently left the club ASPTT Albi in France after six months and is currently in talks with other clubs.

"I have to wait to get my transfer papers before I can sign up with anybody else," she said.

"So I'm weighing up my options now as to whether I can play pro and make enough money to live, or whether I need to get a job and play amateur."

Stephanie revealed that even though she plays professional football she is still broke.

"I think America is the only place where you can get good money," she said.

"When I was in France I was getting €700 a month, and I was broke nearly every week.

"So if I was to go away now on a contract and get €1,000 a month, which is what a lot of girls are on, I can live okay when I am away, but when I'm home I won't have much to fall back on," she added.

Stephanie has an agent, Eamon McLoughlin and hopes to build on her new profile in order to be financially secure.

"I am not setting out to make millions, but he is going to help me capitalise on things," she told VIP.

"Not because I am greedy, I'd like to make that clear. It's just about helping to secure my future.

"I'm 25 and my boyfriend Dean and I are together for eight years and I don't have a lot of savings.

"And that is from concentrating on football, which doesn't pay so well."

While they have been together for almost a decade, they have no plans to wed just yet.

"Everyone keeps asking us when we are getting married, and we are just like 'we haven't the money'," she said.

"We both live at home. That is what football does. It's not as high paid as it is in the UK but it takes the same amount of work and commitment."
