'She's everything I wish I was more of' - Actress Amilia Clarke Stewart on her Fair City character
Fair City actress Amilia Clarke Stewart has revealed she wishes she was more like the character she plays in the long running soap.
Katy is currently being held captive by Ciaran in one of the show's most talked about storylines and Amilia wishes she could be more "brave" like her.
"She's everything I wish I was more of. She's so brave, she knows what she wants and she's determined. I'd be determined but in a much shyer way. I am much more of an introvert than Katy," she said.
The Dubliner was with her grandmother when she found out she had been cast on the show.
"I was watching TV with my Nan and she loves Fair City so the pair of us just started crying," she told the RTÉ Guide.
"My Mam and Dad were delighted too because when you say in school that you want to be an actor the guidance counsellor tries to dissuade you. It's very scary to say 'I'm actually going to do this as a career'."
This week, the O'Brien family will finally discover their daughter's fate after her brother Emmet's dramatic confrontation with Ciaran.
"I don't think I've ever been more nervous in my life because it's been so fast-paced and love it or hate it – people are interested to see how it turns out, the figures have been huge for it," she said.
"I'm really excited and really proud of the work we've put in and I can't wait to see the reaction to it. I get butterflies just thinking about it."
Sunday night's episode was watched by 539,000 people.
