Sheeran makes Christmas dream come true for Aimee
A Dublin schoolgirl is still reeling with excitement after performing a surprise duet with her pop idol Ed Sheeran on The Late Late Toy Show.
Aimee Keogh´(11) from Greenhills, south Dublin, told host Ryan Tubridy she was "hysterical" when the English singer songwriter made a surprise appearance on the RTE chat show on Friday night as she demonstrated the SingStar karoke computer game.
She was initially speechless when the singer came up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder, though she recovered enough to sing along despite a couple of nervous giggles.
Her mum Caroline Keogh said Aimee was still on cloud nine after the impromptu duet.
"She looked back at the clip today and said 'this is a dream'," said Mrs Keogh."This just made her year."
Mrs Keogh watched from the green room at Montrose."I was sitting there enthralled, enjoying the banter with Ryan when Ed Sheeran put his arm around her. I made a show of myself, I screamed!," she said.
Big-hearted Ed offered them tickets to his London show and promised to fly Aimee's family over for his gig at Wembley Stadium in July as well as treat them to hotel accommodation.
He also gave her a "Ted Sheeran" teddy bar, a jumper and a signed copy of his latest CD.
The Toy Show wasn't quite so magical for ex-pat viewers when the live stream on the RTE Player stopped mid-way through.
"Live RTE player stopped working when it ran down the 'Irish time,' so it ended prematurely for us in Switzerland. Shame," tweeted one viewer.
