It was a scrum of a different kind for 'Love Island' winner Greg O'Shea as he was mobbed by hundreds of cheering fans as he arrived home in Ireland.

The 24-year-old Limerick man strolled into Shannon Airport looking tanned and relaxed shortly before noon yesterday and said he couldn't get over the reaction of the throngs of supporters.

"I am speechless, there's that many people I can't even count them. I literally just thought my family and friends would be here. This is amazing. I love the people of Limerick," he said.

And it seems the rugby sevens star and trainee solicitor has no plans to trade in his former life for the bright lights of showbiz.

"I have exams booked for October, the FE1's, so the plan is to still go for them. I'm not going to forget about my life just because I won 'Love Island'," he said.

"I just really enjoyed my time but rugby is my first love and it was great to come out with Amber as well so I can't wait to see where that goes," he added, referring to his 'Love Island' co-winner Amber Gill.
