Long wait almost over for fans of Love/Hate
The fifth series of Love/Hate will start back on our screens in just over two weeks.
The show's star Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, who plays Nidge, revealed the date on the Late Late Show last night.
"I have been given the responsibility to announce that it's October 5," said the award-winning actor.
The show will run for six episodes but the actor would not be drawn on whether or not this will be the end of Love/Hate.
When asked by presenter Ryan Tubridy whether fans could bank on another series the Trinity-trained actor said he was not sure.
"We don't know about that. Stuart (Carolan, the show's writer) has been talking about a sixth series.
"We have to wait and see how this one goes and then we'll all sit down and see if the numbers are there and if the appetite is there.
"But the appetite is there from everyone to keep going with the story," Mr Vaughan-Lawlor said.
And the main character did not give anything else away about what was coming up in the new season.
The fifth series will pick up two weeks after the end of series four which saw Nidge freak-out in a garda station holding cell.
Nidge's on-screen wife, Trish, played by Aoibhinn McGinnity said yesterday that she cannot wait for it to start.
"I'm the most excited I've been throughout to see this season, I think it's very dramatic and strong this year," she said.
"Trish gets out and about more, too; she's isolated and has been lacking in female friendships," the actress from Monaghan said.
