One RTE sports commentator's remarks during yesterday's diving competition proved a hit.

John Kenny, one member of RTE's 50-strong team working at the Rio Olympics yesterday, was giving a play-by-play account of yesterday's men's springboard diving competition when he waxed lyrical about a Columbian diver's moves.

"Like something you'd do on your holidays after few beers," he told RTE's viewers.

The remarks proved a hit with viewers, who were tuning in to see Irish diver Oliver Dingley qualify for the final of the men's 3-metre springboard diving.
