I'm going to be the big party animal for the final wrap bash

Dancing Dessie's Diary

It's the end of the road for all of us on 'Dancing with the Stars' tomorrow night and I've loved every minute of it.

I was luckier than some contestants who exited the show, because I had something big to get stuck into straight away, like covering the Patrick's Day parade for RTÉ and cheering on Cuala in Croke Park. But some people found it difficult leaving the show as you are so invested in it, it's difficult to adapt afterwards.

All of us met up the other night and it was great fun, a great buzz seeing everyone again.

People are going to love the final show, the group dance is great fun and there's a few surprises along the way that will go down a bomb. I'm hoping to do the Dessie Swim but it all depends on my knee holding up.

I'm so thrilled that I got the chance to be in the show. I've been blessed to be at some massive sporting events over the years but from a personal point of view, it was huge. I've had people coming up to me in the street and van drivers shouting at their windows at me, "Be sure to keep the weight loss down now Dessie".

I expected a lot of negative stuff from the public, especially after the Dessie Swim, as it was such a memorable moment. I even had Paul O'Connell mentioning it to me afterwards. That pic of me with Karen went everywhere and I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm going to get slaughtered for this'. But everyone was so positive. Even young lads in their 20s were like, "Fair play. Go on Dessie, you legend." I also got a massive amount of postcards and letters from viewers.

I want to wish the three finalists all the best tomorrow night. I can only imagine how hard they've been working and I can't wait to see them in action. There's going to be a big wrap party afterwards and I'm going to be the big party animal. I was a party animal when I was younger and with all the weight loss, I'm feeling years younger - so bring it on.
