Louis Walsh apologised to Ray D'Arcy on Saturday's episode of his RTE talk show after accusing the host of being axed from schedules throughout his career.

Louis was answering a question about being axed from ITV's X Factor panel in the past and compared himself to D'Arcy, who he believed had been cut from schedules several times also.

"Hey! You were axed too, you were axed too! But then you came back and got your own TV show," said Louis in mock defense before D'Arcy responded.

"I don't think I was axed, actually," the host said.

Feeling the tension after his blunder the Mayo music manager apologised to D'Arcy.

"You left then, sorry Ray," said Louis, before D'Arcy swiftly moved on.

The awkward exchange was picked up by RTE viewers on Twitter, who said Ray was not happy about the suggestion he had been axed.

Patrice Harrington tweeted: "Janey, Ray D'Arcy did not like Louis Walsh's suggestion that he had been axed from jobs too. How very dare you."

Meanwhile, Louis also opened up about his offer to join ITV's I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and said he considered it because of the huge pay packet involved.

"I was offered I'm a Celebrity, the jungle thing, and I was nearly going to do it because they were dangling a lot of moola, you know. I thought, 'Maybe I'll do it'. I'd have been a right twat but it would have been a good way to go out on TV.

"Then Simon said, 'Don't do it, I want you back on the show', so I went back."
