The ITV hosts were speaking about the current killer clown craze and interviewed real-life clown Tommy, to speak about the charity work he's done in which he's raised £190,000 (€210,00) for children.

He explained that he's a friendly clown who likes to give gifts out to people.

Talking about the craze, in which creepy clowns have been terrorising young people in the run-up to Halloween, he said: 'This is absolutely ridiculous. The people that do the funny faces, they don't realise how dangerous this is.

"If they frightened a child that's frightened of clowns, that child could die of a heart attack. It could cost a child's life.

'I'll never take off my clown outfit because I'm a happy clown. I give cuddly toys to the kids for free, I never ask for money. That's not what I am about."

The presenters then welcomed another guest via video link, a man called Gary, dressed as Batman, who has been helping children deal with their fear of clowns as he hunts down "killer clowns".

He said "no one should be afraid of clowns" while he keeps the streets safe.

But the moment the clown and Batman appeared on screen at the same time proved to be too much for Holly (35) and Phil (54), as the unexpected image triggered a burst of laughter from the pair.

“That’s a split screen I never thought I would see!” said Holly as she doubled over with laughter.

“This is a really serious subject,” Phil scolded Holly, as she covered her mouth with her hands to try and suppress her laughter.

'I'm sorry,' she said. 'But he's dressed as Batman.' as she struggled to hold back the lchuckles.

They tried to carry on with their questions as Phil told viewers: “There is this serious message underneath - we don’t usually do this in serious items.”
