Technical blunder between Doctor Who and One Direction makes for awkward viewing

They may be able to send Doctor Who backwards and forwards through time, but it seems the BBC might not be able to successfully carry out a live link-up to Los Angeles.

Following Saturday evening's broadcast of the Doctor Who special 'Day of the Doctor', host Zoe Bell introduced One Direction's Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, but the broadcast included a 15 second delay.

"Fingers crossed this is going to go well," Ms Bell said before introducing the band members, who were performing for '1D Day' in America.

The guys from One Direction looked a little confused when the delay kicked in, but tried to continue on with the broadcast.

Also in attendance were Doctor Who actors Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman and John Hurt and Lead Writer Steven Moffat, who all looked more than a little bit uncomfortable during the blunder.
