IF POLITICS doesn’t work out Taoiseach Leo Varadkar could perhaps pursue a career in busking - or maybe not.

During a canvass in Limerick he joined in a rousing rendition of hit song Zombie by The Cranberries.

The sing-along with Offaly musician James McKelvey came after someone in the crowd encouraged Mr Varadkar to “give us a few bars”.

In fairness to the reputedly shy Taoiseach he joined in, helped out by other Fine Gael candidates on the campaign trail.

Mr Varadkar is canvassing in Limerick this afternoon and campaigning for a ‘Yes’ vote in an upcoming plebiscite on directly elected mayors.

With local and European elections also on the horizon members of the public also raised concerns about services at University Hospital Limerick among other issues.
