Tributes have been praised to RTE broadcaster John Murray for his latest fundraising album for AWARE.

The star spoke briefly about his own battle with depression while officially launching the album on his RTE Radio One programme this morning

Speaking to playwright and author Michael Harding, Murray said: "As someone myself who has experienced depression, you have been there too.

"This is tough. This is a tough time," Murray said when talking about winter.

At this stage, the author praised Murray for the work he has done in highlighting the condition and raising funds.

"When you mention yourself John, let me say, I think you do a lot of giving on this show and fair play to you," Michael Harding said.

"But I know there's a lot of people in their kitchens around Ireland at the minute and they're wishing you well.

"They're so happy. That you had... a normal thing. You weren't too good for a while and then... look at you now. You're glowing. You're doing great work and you're giving.

"I think an awful lot of people are saying 'hello John Murray' and fair fecks to you."

"I think I'll hire you as my agent," laughed John Murray.
