The person

My mum, who is always supportive; my dad too, if it's a 'dad question'. Or one of my long-suffering friends

The memory

Eating barbecue honey chicken in 1998 in Ios, Greece. I made forever friends and had the time of my life

The moment of the day

It's got to be evening time in the summer, when the light hits off the buildings, creating amazing colours and shadows

The song

Heroes by David Bowie - it is sad but happy, and it makes you laugh and cry

The movie

I think it has to be Trading Places, with Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd, an inspirational 1980s film with hope and innocence, something we just don't have any more

The hero

My mum, Rosemary. She has had it hard bringing me and my brothers up, but she just gets on with things

The book

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

The accessory

My North Face rucksack. It has been around the world with me

The outfit

My jungle-pattern trousers, which bring me luck wherever I go. I bought them in Amsterdam, when I was simulating childbirth. I wore them on the Late Late Show and that night, they trended on Twitter

The gadget

My little black box hard drive, which has every radio item I have recorded over the last 12 years

The pet hate

The friend

The beauty product

The holiday

Skiing in Zermatt, Switzerland, the home of the Toblerone mountain. The fresh snow, the chalet, the apres-ski, and the craic learning to ski with friends in the land of the rich and shameless

The piece of advice

From my dad, Hamish: You know when you know, you just know

The drink

Cappuccino in a take-away cup

The hotel

A small island in Indonesia called Gili Meno. I stayed at a new honeymoon hotel called Seri Resort by mistake

The bar

Peter's Pub, Dublin

The hobby

Fitsquad.ie - outdoor bootcamp-style fitness training. It helped me lose four stone. It's like a hobby - good fun and great people

The part of my body There is no part of my body that I love, but people say I have nice legs

The celebrity

Will Ferrell. I was lucky enough to spend time with him. He is nothing like Ron Burgundy . . . I got carried away and asked him if we could be friends

The virtue

Being kind and caring - it costs nothing

The vice

Cappuccino in a take-away cup

The smell

Growing up in Kuwait, smelling the street vendors' fresh, unleavened flatbread baking in the heat

The taste

A freshly cooked Big Mac when I'm hungover
