Sarah McInerney is leaving Newstalk just three months after moving to her weekend slot.

The popular presenter will host her last Behind The Lines programme on Saturday, December 23.

Speaking about the announcement, Chris Doyle from Newstalk said: “On behalf of the team here in Newstalk I would like to thank Sarah for her hard work and commitment to the station and wish her every success in the future.”

A revised weekend schedule for Newstalk will be announced shortly.

The news comes just days after fellow Newstalk presenter Chris Donoghue handed in his notice.

Former Newstalk Drive co-presenters Chris and Sarah were replaced in their slot by Ivan Yates in August.

Ms McInerney was given an 8am hour-long Saturday morning slot while Mr Donoghue was made political editor across all Communicorp stations including Newstalk, Today FM, 98FM and SPIN.

The presenter, who was named News Broadcaster of the Year at the IMRO Awards in October, currently fronts The Sunday Show with Sarah McInerney on TV3.
