Ryan Tubridy's return to 2fm this week was pretty chilled as he endured the ice bucket challenge in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Rose of Tralee presenter Daithi O'Se took part in the challenge at the festival dome last night and nominated previous Rose presenters Tubridy, Marty Whelan, and Ray D'Arcy to take part.

Ryan was the first of the three to honour the nomination this morning by having two buckets of iced water thrown over his head live on air in the corner of his radio studio at 2fm.

The challenge drew a number of fellow radio presenters to witness proceedings, including Breakfast Republic presenter Bernard O'Shea, who Ryan then nominated, along with his co-presenters Jennifer Maguire and Keith Walsh.

Marty Whelan also accepted the challenge this morning but has yet to set a date and time.

Irish people wishing to take part can do the challenge for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).  Or text MND to donate €2 to 50300 (100% of the text goes to IMNDA, some providers may apply VAT).
