Jonathon Healy is to begin working on Pat Kenny’s radio show as Newstalk clear the decks to make way for Ivan Yates return this weekend.
Healy, who has worked with Newstalk for over a decade, had presented The Sunday Show since September 2016.
The programme aired for the last time on Sunday and will be replaced with Yates’ afternoon show and a separate magazine style programme fronted by Bobby Kerr.
Healy will work on The Pat Kenny Show which runs 9am -12pm filling in for the broadcaster when he is on leave.
“I will be Pat Kenny when Pat Kenny is not there,” Healy joked.
Healy also intends to work on more TV projects.
“It is sad when things come to an end but it’s a fantastic opportunity to be working with Pat and I will get to focus on a lot of other projects.”
Healy has previously hosted Newstalk Lunchtime before moving to the weekend slot as part of radio station's schedule re-vamp.
Speaking with the Irish Independent, CEO of Newstalk Tim Collins said the end of the Sunday Show is part of Newstalk’s new weekend line up.
Ivan Yates will present a new two hour programme while Bobby Kerr will front an “entertaining new magazine-style show”.
Collins says this will be “completely different to Kerr's well-known Down to Business programme”.
