'He hasn't perfected it yet - if he keeps at it he might get it' - Daniel O'Donnell not impressed by Mario Rosenstock's impersonation
Daniel O'Donnell has given his verdict on Mario Rosenstock's impersonation of him, and it's not good.
Rosenstock appeared on the Late Late Show Valentine's Special last week and sang a song and gave an interview as Daniel.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on Radio One on Monday Daniel revealed it's a "strange" experience to be imitated by a comedian.
"I'm amazed he keeps doing me so often, imitating me so often," he said. "It's strange from my point of view, you're just going about doing what you're doing and somebody takes you off.
"It's kind of strange that people would know you that much that somebody could imitating you but it it what it is."
He also revealed that he thinks other impersonators do a better job.
"He hasn't perfected it yet," he said. "The accent is very hard to do, the voice is very hard to do. Only a couple of people get it close that do imitatings. Maybe if Mario keeps at it he might get it. Don't give up, you might get better!"
He added, "There's a fella on radio in Northern Ireland called Sean Coyle who's excellent at doing my speaking voice. Gary Gamble imitates my singing and my voice and Jimmy Buckley does a mean one too."
Daniel was on the line to speak to Molly-Kate Sloyan, the audience member who was appalled when Mario appeared onstage instead of her idol Daniel and who went viral as a result.
"Your street cred must have gone up no end after that clip on the internet," said Daniel to Molly-Kate regarding the 100,000 views she racked up on YouTube thanks to her horrified face at the Late Late.
He added, "You've done my street cred more than I've done yours!"
Daniel invited Molly-Kate to one of his shows in the INEC in Killarney in August.
