Legendary broadcaster Gay Byrne is back behind the mic. Mr Byrne (81), who suffered a heart attack over the Christmas period, was pictured in studios in Dublin yesterday.

The star has previously thanked their public for well wishes and said he is recuperating well.

The broadcaster has voiced the TV and radio ads for the Irish Independent's 'Centenary Papers Collection', starting this Saturday. In Part One this Saturday, read the fascinating newspaper reports of the events of Easter 1916, with a special introduction by Tim Pat Coogan, who recounts the mood of the nation at this historic time.
