Former 2FM presenter Ruth Scott has joined Dublin rock station Radio Nova.

Ruth's 2fm show The Weekender was axed from the schedule in January as station boss Dan Healy shook up the the line-up.

She has been with RTE for almost 18 years and her show shot up by 15,000 listeners in one JNLR book alone last year.  She was replaced by Stephen Byrne.

Ruth will kick off with her new show The Saturday Night Show on Radio Nova this Saturday (August 5) from 9pm until midnight.

She follows former 2fm colleague Colm Hayes to the Dublin station. He departed RTE in July last year.

"I was thrilled when I got the call from Colm," she said.  "It’s almost the icing on the cake. Nova is a great station and getting better all the time and I can’t wait to roll out a bit of Bowie or The Beatles."

Speaking about Ruth's arrival, Programme Director Hayes said, "When I heard Ruth had left 2FM I knew she would be a perfect fit for Radio Nova. Her ‘Weekenders’ show with Paddy Mc Kenna was a ratings winner for 2FM for years.  We have big plans for Radio Nova in the future, this is just the start."

Roscommon native Ruth has just returned from her honeymoon and was recently seen filling in on the Elaine show on TV3.
