RTE presenter Eoghan McDermott has accused Today FM's Dermot and Dave of "stealing" his ideas for their programme.

The RTE star said the comedic duo had nicked his segment, where he takes lyrics from a song and Google Translates them through a number of languages.

The Voice co-host jokingly added that he was in "shock and horror" when he heard that they were using his segment - Lost In Translation - which he came up with in 2011 while working for XFM in London.

Rant

Eoghan (31) is known for his humour on air and in a light-hearted rant he called out the two lads for their thieving ways.

"Lo and behold, my surprise, shock and horror to be informed today by producer Trace that she had been told that a rival radio station show, Dermot and Dave from Today FM, had been doing something similar," he said.

"I couldn't believe it. I said, this can't be true. Two reputable radio presenters, albeit from a rival station," he said.

"These men have integrity. They wouldn't stoop so low as to blatantly steal from another show.

"So we went and procured the audio from their show," he added.

And after playing their segment on his 2FM programme, Eoghan told listeners "What's that smell guys? It's the smell of bulls**t."

Today FM did not respond to a request for comment on Eoghan's remarks.

Eoghan is currently filling in for Louise McSharry on 2FM as she has taken six months out to battle Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

"She's taking six months as a definitive and obviously if she needs more than that afterward she can take it," he previously told the Herald.

"It was awful but the prognosis is very good," he said.

"She's had a tough run - it's a scary because we're the same age and you almost take your health for granted at this stage," he added.
