Brendan O’Carroll filled some “substantial shoes” in his own words, this morning when he filled in for Marian Finucane on the Marian Finucane show on RTÉ1.

The Finglas entertainer took a break from promoting his new movie “Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie” to fill the 11-1 one slot this morning.

Despite being no stranger to radio O’Carroll seemed a little nervous,  but he soon got into the swing of things even cracking a joke “no Marian hasn’t got Laryngitis” to introduce himself.

The show featured football legend Paul McGrath talking about the Luis Swarez biting incident, a segment on the Phoenix and Ireland's “new poor” and a discussion about passion (and aggression) in sports.

O’Carroll was his usual bubbly self but kept the comedy he is famous for to a minimum throughout the show.

He did manage to get a plug in for his movie in the ‘what’s in the papers’ segment of the show saying the premiere was “the only real news in the papers” today.
