Al Porter, Amy Huberman, Andrew Maxwell, and Deirdre O'Kane are among the biggest names who will give live comedy performances for a new RTE radio show.

Comedy Showhouse Hour, will feature 12 new half-hour radio comedies aired over six weeks, starting this Saturday.

The series was recorded at the Project Arts Centre earlier in 2016 in front of a live audience.

The 6-6.30pm slot will feature Don’t Quote Me! – where Sean Hughes will preside over two teams, headed up by Andrew Maxwell and Fiona Looney – where they'll discuss a wide range of themes, personalities and subjects designed to spark witty commentary, comic discussion and often ridiculous debate.

An RTE spokesperson said the second half-hour slot, 6.30-7pm, will feature a revolving carousel of programmes designed to challenge the mind and stimulate the funny bone.

The Nualas, Karl Spain, Maxine Jones, Gearóid Farrelly, Aindrias De Staic, Foil Arms & Hog, and Colm O’Regan will also feature on the show.

Comedy Showhouse Hour starts on RTÉ Radio 1 this Saturday 27th August at 6pm.
