Adorable Jessica Gwen Caroll (7) wins Christmas with 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire' on Joe Duffy show
A crowd of Joe Duffy listeners assembled on Duke Street this morning to sing carols and send messages of goodwill to family and friends.
Among the people contributing to the show was 7-year-old Jessica Gwen Carol from Dublin whose rendition of 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire' warmed the hearts of everyone despite the plunging temperature.
She revealed she's getting "colours" from Santa, said hello to her grannies and her grandad, and sang the cutest version of the Christmas hit.
Also joining Joe Duffy for his Christmas special on RTE Radio 1 was Mrs Brown's Boys star Brendan O'Carroll, Oliver Callan, who did several brilliant impressions, including Conor McGregor, and Dustin the Turkey.
Dustin took a pop at Joe's Radio 1 colleague Ryan Tubridy calling him a "human bookmark with feet" and asking, "if the camera adds 10 pounds does he really exist?".
O'Connor was on top form, slagging Joe about his new book, Children of the Rising, and joking, "Everybody was amazed that you could do joined up writing!"
Among the listeners on air were Morgan and Aisling Earley who had emigrated from Australia to Ireland in January this year but are returning to Australia in the New Year due to "financial" reasons.
They sent their love to their dad Sean who is already back in Perth in Australia and will be soending Christmas apart from his girls and their mum Sharon, who revealed she had left Ireland 16 years ago for what was supposed to be 6 months.
Many listeners sent Christmas wishes to family living abroad in New York, Australia and beyond.
Aoife and Eoin Scott sang Silent Night as gaeilge while Diarmuid O'Mairtin from Westmeath sang a verse of Fairytale of New York in Irish.
Clare Ryan, meanwhile, had written a lengthy sonnet about Joe which she read out on air.
