RTÉ presenter Joe Duffy was among those honoured last night for their contribution to Irish society.

The Lord Mayor's Awards 2017 were held at the Mansion House on Dawson Street.

Four awards were handed out by Lord Mayor Brendan Carr in the Round Room and broadcaster Duffy was over the moon to collect his gong.

He said: "I'm deeply honoured for myself, RTÉ and the 'Liveline' listeners to receive this award."

The other winners on the night were Paralympian Ellen Keane, the Dublin GAA County Board and the Workers of Dublin.

Lord Mayor Carr said: "The Lord Mayor's Awards are all about saying 'thank you' not only on my own behalf but on behalf of all the people of Dublin, to citizens who, through their ordinary everyday lives, enrich this city in an extraordinary way.

"It is one of the highlights of my year as Lord Mayor to present these awards."
