RTE's The Late Late Show is on the hunt for a different kind of guest this week, seeking out some old school romantics for the show's Valentine's special.

The special which will air this Friday, February 9th, will celebrate love that has stood the test of time, and hopefully teach the nation a little about finding true love.

In its call-out for couples, RTE has said it wants people who really know the meaning of "for better or for worse" and whose stories have the potential to warm the heart of the nation.

In a Facebook post for RTE, host Ryan Tubirdy said: "Old lovers everywhere, we need you."

He said there will be “a lot of youngsters, a lot of hormones, a lot of silliness and goofiness but we need love and we need old love that has lasted the dawn of time”.

He said he wants to speak to couples who are in their 40s and 50s and “want to see each other for breakfast... and they want to have lunch together and they want to go home together, and watch TV together and switch off the light at night together all because they love each other!”

Last year's Valentine’s special was viewed by a estimated 576,000 people.

Couples who feel that their love has stood the test of time and are still truly mad about each other can email latelateextra@rte.ie.
