My Perfect weekend: Singer Ann Scott
The plan for Saturday night?
I don't do plans very well. I usually lie on the couch and wait for something to come on the TV that isn't Law and Order. And sometimes my weekends are busy with gigs.
Must-see gig of the weekend?
Ooh, let's have a look at iCal now... Well, I'm playing a gig with Katell Keineg in Odessa on the Thursday night, so I guess I'll be recovering from that. Because I'm a performer myself, it definitely means I go to a lot less gigs. I enjoy classical gigs. There's lots of great stuff on. There's great stuff at Hugh Lane Gallery if you are up on a Sunday morning.
Pub/club/restaurant you couldn't live without?
Um... What I'm more into are the farmers' markets and antique fairs. My favourite farmers' markets? I would say Dun Laoghaire, Temple Bar and Marlay Park.
Best weekend ever?
I had good fun playing with Gemma [Hayes] at All Tomorrow's Parties before Christmas. It was at Minehead in the UK. My Bloody Valentine curated -- there was a whole bunch of really great bands.
Worst weekend ever?
Actually, I have a good one for you. I had a weekend off and it was one of those rare occasions in Ireland when the sun actually comes out. I thought, 'God, I better jump in the car now and head to the beach'. It was all going very well. I had the Cornetto and the window down. When I got there, there was a dirty black rain cloud over Brittas Bay. I parked and waited for it to move. But it wouldn't. So I thought, 'well, it's still sunny inland. I'll go to Glendalough and have a nice time there'. And then I got a puncture!
Favourite pre-going out ritual?
I'm always in a mad rush. I'm not very punctual. My favourite pre-going out ritual. is actually to leave on time.
I'd love to go the beach and not be stood up by the sun. That would do.
Ann Scott's new album Flo is out on June 4. She plays Whelan's, Dublin on June 9
