Last night's first Eurovision semi-final saw two of the favourites make it through to Saturday's final.

Russia and Malta will be joined by the other successful acts to make it through - Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Armenia.

The big six - favourites France and Sweden as well as Germany, Italy, Spain, and United Kingdom - of course go straight through to the final.

So, there are ten more spots up for grabs on Thursday night when Nicky Byrne takes to the stage with Sunlight during the second semi-final.

He's up against 17 other acts, however, including two of the favourites, Australia and Ukraine.

Australian entry Dami Im won Australian X Factor and will be singing a belter of a ballad, Sound of Silence.

Ukraine are also expected to make it to the final and even the top ten overall with their very heavy-hitting entry from Jamala.

The song, 1944, is about Jamala's great-grandmother who was deported in 1944 by Russian leader Josef Stalin.

Here are the other acts Nicky will face on Thursday, among them a host of male and female soloists with incredible voices.

Only Nicky's Sunlight for Ireland, Bulgaria's Poli Genova and Laura Tesoro's What's the Pressure for Belgium play the upbeat, might-make-you-want-to-dance card, which could well work in their favour.

Latvia – Justs

This guy pulls some serious moves in the official video - in what looks like a padded cell.

Poland – Michal Szpak

Another male solo singer, this time with a morose ballad.

Switzerland – Rykka

Another ballad.

Israel – hovi Star

Another ballad, and he has an incredible quiff.

Belarus – Ivan

You'll be disappointed to hear he doesn't get to bring his real wolves on stage after all.  Or perform naked.

Serbia – Sanja Vucic ZAA

Another belter of a ballad.

Macedonia – Kaliopi

A slow, powerful ballad, this time in Macedonia, from a woman who looks like a young Cher crossed with Chrissie Hynde.

Lithuania – Donny Montell

Boyband looks, boyband voice.

Slovenia – ManuElla

Will stand out but also get lost as a simple pop song with a country vibe.

Bulgaria – Poli Genova

"If love was a crime then we would be criminals" are among the lyrics in this upbeat pop song.

Denmark – Lighthouse X

Another handsome young man sings a ballad.

Norway – Agnete

Georgia – Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz

Rock vibes, not very Eurovisiony.

Albania – Eneda Tarifa

Incredible voice, another ballad ripe for the belting.

Belgium – Laura Tesoro

This one might actually make you want to dance.
