Who can believe it’s been twenty years since the haunting vocals of Riverdance rang out across the arena during the interval of the Eurovision 1994?

Television viewers across the continent were wowed by the graceful elegance of Jean Butler, the explosive arrival of Michael Flatley and the long line of Irish dancers beating the stage in perfect heart-stopping harmony.

Twenty years and 25 million audience members later, Riverdance has become a global sensation.

The production has since also had sell-out gigs in Beijing’s Capital Arena Stadium and in Shanghai’s Grand Stage Arena.

According to a leading Chinese concert promoter, the show has been booked for at least a decade.

“Heartbeat of Home will tour in China for the next 10 years,” Chinese promoter Jurek Zhang told the Irish Independent recently.

Riverdance, the full length show, will run at the Gaiety Theatre this summer from 23 June - 31 August 2014. Tickets are now available.

Or, you can share your own Riverdance memories on Twitter with the hashtag #riverdance20 today.
