The Chic of Some People

Tinie Tempah is almost as well known for his dress sense as for his music. He isn't the only musician to invest considerable thought into how he presents himself though.

It would take two introspective Parisians to don shiny robot helmets and make it seem as if they were making a profound statement about the relationship between art and celebrity.

Jack White

He'll never be an icon. Yet you have to admire White's OCD-esque commitment to maintaining the right look. In the White Stripes, he only wore red or white in public. As a solo artist, he limits his palette to white, grey and blue.

Janelle Monáe

Super-stardom hasn't quite come knocking for the Kansas singer. However, as a fashionista she's already an icon, with an androgynous look half James Brown, half Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Interpol

It's hard to rock the sombre evening suit, without seeming to be hilariously po-faced. Fortunately looking hilariously po-faced is what Interpol are all about and their undertaker chic complements the music perfectly.
