Smokey on Jacko children appearance
Smokey Robinson has described the surprise appearance of Michael Jackson's children at the Grammy Awards as "the icing on the cake".
The Motown star - who helped sing Earth Song in a 3-D tribute alongside Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Usher - said Prince Michael and Paris's on-stage tribute was emotional.
"I think it was a surprise - I'm very proud to do anything to pay tribute to Michael, his kids were the icing on the cake because they gave you the view of him through their eyes, letting you know he was a great guy," he said backstage.
He went on: "He was their dad, he was their connection to life itself, it was beautiful."
Prince Michael and Paris brought stars to tears when they spoke to the crowd at this year's ceremony.
"We would like to thank God for watching over us for these past seven months and also our grandma and grandpa for their love and support," Prince Michael told the audience.
He added: "We'd also like to thank the fans, because he loved you so much."
