The singer has published the video behind her new single ‘Take Me To Church’.

The track is the first to be released from her upcoming album ‘I'm Not Bossy, I'm the Boss’, which is set for release this month.

The 47-year-old singer references the video that propelled her to international fame, with segments from the Nothing Compares 2 U video incorporated into the new release.

The emotional Take Me To Church is centred around the battles and issues that O’Connor has struggled without throughout her life.

She poignantly sings, “I don’t want to be that girl anymore” and promotes self-acceptance in the line “I’m the only one I should be”.

The controversial singer, who famously ripped up a picture of the Pope on live TV, has made a visible effort to reform as of late, and has shed a significant amount of weight.

The album has been given 4 stars by Mojo magazine.

O’Connor plays Dublin’s National Concert Hall on Saturday 16th August & Electric Picnic at the end of the month.
