Emeli Sande has revealed she's been "blown away" by people's response to her music.
The soul singer, who reached the number one spot with the Professor Green duet Read All About It in October, found it tough to get discovered in her early days and wrote songs for other stars instead.
But now, with a Critics' Choice Brit Awards nod under her belt, she told the Daily Star: "I've been really blown away by reactions and feel so confident... I'm really happy about being nominated."
Emeli - who will learn if she's won the gong on Thursday - also reckons the music industry is changing.
"It was never a struggle as a songwriter because I think I was doing something that no one else was. People were always interested in my songs, just not me as an artist.
"I don't think we're in an industry where people take risks, or at least we weren't when I was trying to get signed. But things are changing now and people are looking for something different."
