XFactor winner Sam Bailey believes she will never be ''the prettiest person in the room'' but is determined to be happy with her image.

''I know I’m never going to be the prettiest person in the room, but I’m nice and that’s all I want to be,'' she said.

Despite her transformation into a fully-fledged diva, the Xfactor star still insists that she's insecure about her body.

Entering into an industry that can be obsessed with size she said, ''I’m quite insecure when I’m around people that are thinner.''

Since the start of her XFactor journey, she has slimmed down from a size 18 to a 12/14.

Although she still isn’t comfortable with her image, she hopes to remain a size 12, admitting she does like women with curves.

In an interview with Heat magazine, the singer admitted that she still hasn’t quit her job as a prison officer because “you don’t know what’s around the corner”.

The 36-year-old talked about her struggle with her weight throughout her life.

''The world is quite a shallow place. I’ve seen the best of it – I’ve been a size 8 and I’ve gone up to an 18,'' she admitted.

''I was thin for the majority of my life then, after giving up smoking three years ago, I piled all my weight on.

''I’ve been stupidly thin and now seeing it from the other side, where you have to go into plus-size clothes shops, it’s not a nice place to be."

The mum-of-two said she was looking forward to spending Christmas with her husband Craig and children, Brooke aged eight and Tommy aged four.

The successful singer admitted that her and her husband had struggled to come up with the money needed for Christmas this year.

''Yeah, we can’t afford Christmas this year. Craig’s had to borrow money or the kids wouldn’t have had Christmas,'' she said.

The talented mum received more than one million votes on the night of her X Factor victory.

She was formerly an officer at Gartree prison in Leicestershire but hoped that taking a shot at the hit talent show would change her life.
