Rihanna was an unlikely guest performer at the Academy Of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.
The flame-haired RnB star, known for collaborating with just about everybody in music these days, showed she had no fears stepping into the country arena to sing a duet of California King Bed with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles.
"She is a wonderful performer,"Jennifer told reporters later. "Obviously, country music is hip and it's cool and it's fresh, and I think her being here tonight is even more testimony to that."
It was not the only unusual duet of the night, as the show had some blockbuster performances and unexpected mash-ups.
American Idol judge Steven Tyler joined Carrie Underwood and rocked out to Undo It, which they merged with the Aerosmith classic Walk This Way.
Award-winner Paisley provided a raucous performance of his new song Old Alabama with members of the iconic country supergroup Alabama.
James Taylor, who Zac Brown calls his greatest influence, joined the singer's band on a medley of Colder Weather and Sweet Baby James.
