Pulp are reuniting to perform on stage together for the first time in almost 15 years, the former chart stars have announced.

Frontman Jarvis Cocker and members of the Britpop band from the days of the peak of their success will re-form to headline the Wireless festival in London's Hyde Park next summer.

A spokesman for the Sheffield group, whose hits included Common People and Disco 2000, said: "Pulp have decided to get together and play some concerts next summer.

"The shows will involve all the original members of the band... and they will be playing songs from all periods of their career.

"This will be the first time that all the original Pulp members have been on stage together since 24th August 1996."

The band, who split in 2002, will make their comeback performance at Spain's Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona in May next year, before performing at Wireless in July.

The group, who headlined Glastonbury in 1995, enjoyed their biggest successes at the height of the Britpop era in the mid-90s, while fifth album Different Class won the Mercury prize in 1996.

In October last year, Jarvis denied plans for a reunion, saying: "Pulp have no plans to get back together," while in 2007 he joked: "Hell would have to freeze over first!... There is no barrier other than the fact that at the moment I can't really see a point."

The comeback will feature the hit-making line-up of frontman Jarvis, drummer Nick Banks, keyboard player Candida Doyle, bass guitarist Steve Mackey, guitarist and violinist Russell Senior and guitarist Mark Webber.

Pulp will play at the Hyde Park festival - Wireless with Barclaycard - on Sunday July 3.
