Pharrell's the real winner as Kanye's not picture perfect
He is one-half of the world's most-photographed couple, but Kanye West came across all camera shy at his Dublin concert.
Thousands turned out to see Kim Kardashian's husband entertain his Irish fans with his rap repertoire - but there'll be little lasting evidence of last night's concert in Marlay Park as the American superstar banned official photos to be taken of him on stage.
The 37-year-old Grammy winner performed a string of his best-loved hits at the summer concert, including Jesus Walks and Stronger.
However, the real highlight of the evening was his support act, Pharrell Williams. The Happy singer upstaged the Yeezus headliner, wowing crowds with a string of his chart-topping tunes.
Revellers arrived from all over the country to attend the gig. Eighteen-year-old triplets Ailbhe, Aoife and Orlaith Boyle caught the bus from Monaghan to head along to the event.
"We've just finished our Leaving Cert, so this is something fun for us to do together before going off to college in September," Aoife said.
Lucan pals Tara O'Connell and June Hardiman came with their Swedish friend Linda Mard in tow. They were all eager to see Pharrell.
"Kanye is just so irritating these days, but Pharrell is laid back and chilled," said Tara.
Rathfarnham based Shaun Bhuiyan agreed.
"Pharrell is exceptionally cool, especially for his age," said Shaun.
It was rumoured that Kanye's wife Kim, with whom he has one-year-old daughter North, was to accompany him to Ireland for the second time in several weeks.
The couple spent time here as part of their honeymoon in May, days after their €13m Italian wedding.
But curvy Kim remained in the US yesterday and was spotted enjoying quality time with her family, who are filming their new fly-on-the-wall show in the Hamptons in New York.
One for his comforts, Kanye was treated like music royalty with fruit platters, cheese board and energy drinks available backstage.
