TEENAGE heartthrob Niall Horan almost sparked ariot amongst his legion ofyoung female fansyesterday when word gotout where he and fellowmembers of the boybandOne Direction were staying.

The 18-year-old singer from Mullingar, Co Westmeath, managed to slip out of the Fitzwilliam Hotel on St Stephen's Green yesterday morning for a bit of shopping on nearby Grafton Street.

But after posing for photos with some of his adoring fans, word that 'The X Factor' stars were staying at the hotel spread like wildfire.

Security had to be summoned to keep the young girls at bay when they besieged the front entrance of the hotel for a glimpse of their idols.

Meanwhile, Geoff and Karen Payne, parents of bandmember Liam Payne, (18), from Wolverhampton, England, happily posed with fans queuing outside of Dublin's 02 arena for their performance there last night.

Niall and his four British bandmates shot to stardom after they came in third in the seventh 'X Factor' series.

Their debut album, 'Up All Night', was released last November and was the fastest-selling debut album on the 2011 UK Albums Chart.

One Direction will head to Belfast today for sold-out performances this evening and tomorrow at The Waterfront venue.
