One Direction to perform at billionaire Richard Branson's New Year's Eve bash
One Direction have been asked to perform at a billionaire’s lavish New Year’s Eve party.
The pop group were apparently approached by Sir Richard Branson, who thinks they will be the perfect choice to welcome in 2014. Richard has invited a series of Hollywood stars and wealthy businessmen to attend the party on his private Necker Island and wants a big headlining act to ensure the evening is a success.
“One Direction have been asked to be the main attraction and perform at the party,” a source told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. “Officially the bash is being thrown to celebrate the start of space flights with Virgin Galactic which are due to be launching by the end of 2014, but it will not be a ‘worky’ event. Sir Richard wants everyone to let their hair down and have a good time. He has invited guests to stay for a decadent party.”
One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles is no stranger to Necker Island, which is located in the Caribbean Sea. The 19-year-old previously enjoyed a romantic break there with his then-girlfriend Taylor Swift.
Earlier this month it was also reported that Harry was desperate to get on Richard’s Virgin Galactic spacecraft next year. He is believed to have bid an impressive £150,000 in a bid to book his place on the flight into space.
A host of A-listers have apparently already secured their seat for the voyage, including Brad Pitt, Justin Bieber, Ashton Kutcher, rockers Muse, Russell Brand and Kate Winslet – who is married to Richard’s nephew Ned RocknRoll.
