Superstar Beyonce headlined Coachella on Saturday night and she smashed it.

The star was forced to cancel her slot headlining Coachella last year after she became pregnant with twins.  She gave birth to Rumi and Sir Carter in June last year.

Lady Gaga stepped in to fill the slot.

After a year long wait Beyonce opened her performance by thanking the festival for allowing her to be the first black woman to headline.

She performed to Crazy in Love, Run the World Girls, Lift Every Voice and Sing during her set and performed Formation with a troupe of performers, dancers, and a marching band.

Fans were thrilled when special guests Jay Z (for a duet of Deja Vu), and Destiny's Child appeared on stage with Beyonce.  Her sister Solange also came out to dance with her sister.

It was her first performance since the Grammy's last year and reports suggested she had been rehearsing for 11 hours a day for Coachella.

Prior to her performance she requested that media refrain from sharing fan photos of her online.

Page Six reports that the singer's publicist sent an email to media outlets on Friday asking them not to use fan photos in their reports.

Back in 2013 a photo of the Lemonade star went viral after her Super Bowl performance and her team approached Buzzfeed to request they take down their 'unflattering photos'.

The star is set to embark on a joint tour with husband Jay Z this summer.
