TICKETS for all of U2’s announced Dublin shows have sold out in a matter of minutes online.

Tickets went on sale at 9am this morning, with all tickets sold within 20 minutes.

Ticketmaster.ie said it was experiencing high demand for the four Dublin dates – however the server held up to the massive traffic and the website remained online.

Disappointed fans could be set for a reprieve – as there is a gap in the schedule between the midweek and weekend dates.

So far there are no gigs scheduled for the Wednesday and Thursday of the week the band play.

There are no other events booked in the Three Arena on the dates involved - leading speculation the band will put two more gigs on sale to meet demand.

However there were smiles at Dublin's 3 Arena where fans queued since the early hours to get their hands on tickets.

Lifelong fan Francis (56) from Monkstown in Dublin has been following the band since the beginning, and told Independent.ie he was glad the band were playing the 3 Arena and not Croke Park.

“Every time they’ve been here, I’ve been with them since the start.

“I’m looking forward to it big time, inside is so much better than up in the rafters in Croke Park.”

Paul Brennan from Raheny in Dublin also got his hands on some coveted tickets - and praised the 3 Arena staff, and his fellow fans.

“It was a pleasure to queue up with some lovely U2 fans, the venue looked after very well and took us in out of the cold – so everyone is very happy.”
