The Fall star Tara Lee turns attention to music as she writes debut album
She's known for her roles in hit series Raw and The Fall, but now Tara Lee is set to make her mark on the music world as she's writing songs for her first record.
The actress (20) has just returned to Ireland after spending some time in Los Angeles working on her music career.
Tara, who played teenager Daisy in The Fall, has been working on new music and has big plans for later this year.
"I was over there to showcase with Musexpo which is a really amazing music conference and I was doing some writing sessions," she said.
"Now I'm planning an EP release in the autumn and I'm very excited about it."
Despite working with some industry heavyweights in LA, Tara admitted the US music scene isn't quite for her, and she plans to travel more to find her unique sound.
"I didn't really enjoy a lot of my writing sessions in LA because I kind of felt like I'm more of a Londoner," she said.
"Funnily enough, one of the writers I enjoyed working with the most over there was from London and he lives in Berlin so I definitely want to go there.
"I want to go to Sweden too and just see what the others write like and find what feels right."
Along with writing her own songs, Tara plans to be hands on when it comes to the production of her EP.
"I have loads of people in mind and I want to co-produce everything. There's three people I want to travel and work with," she said.
While she's keen to break into the music industry, Tara isn't putting her acting career on the back burner and is going to Scotland next week to film the movie Moon Dogs.
"Music and acting are both equal for me," she said.
"I love the honesty of music, and I'm first and foremost a singer, but if something captures my heart I have to go with it and that's the case with this film.
"It's one of the most beautiful scripts I've ever read. I really can't wait to work on it."
Tara recently revealed that she signed a publishing deal with music giants BMG Chrysalis, who include international superstars such as Kings of Leon and Duran Duran on their books.
After flying to LA to finalise the deal, Dublin native Tara announced her delight on Facebook.
"It was one of the most incredible moments of my life," she said.
