The Chieftans, Mundy and Seo Linn will perform an intimate gig in Dublin Castle for US Vice President Joe Biden.

Earlier this week, Barack Obama's right-hand man arrived in Ireland for a six-day official visit to Ireland.

In between meetings, he paid a whistle-stop visit to his ancestral homes in Mayo and Louth, took up a long-standing invitation for a round of golf with the Taoiseach and today he'll arrive in Dublin Castle to deliver a speech on Irish-American experience.

In an outdoor event open to members of the public who applied for tickets, Mr Biden is expected to touch on the shared heritage of the two nations as well as the values of tolerance, diversity and inclusiveness.

LGBT rights advocate Michael Barron will introduce the vice-president.

Traditional Irish band The Chieftains, singer-songwriter Mundy and Irish language band Seo Linn will also play at the event which has sparked a major security operation in the Irish capital.

The event kicks off at 2.30pm and will be hosted by Ryan Tubridy.
