The UCD Choral Scholars have released their debut international recording on one of the world’s leading classical music labels, Signum Records.

The disc, entitled Invisible Stars, showcases traditional and contemporary choral music from Ireland and Scotland, featuring arrangements and new compositions by some of Ireland’s most celebrated composers for choir, including Michael McGlynn, Brendan Graham, Bill Whelan and the group’s artistic director, Desmond Earley.

The Scholars are the first Irish choir to release on the label, which boasts an impressive catalogue of artists ranging from The King’s Singers, Tenebrae and The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

The ensemble, which was established in 1999, is made up of gifted students from a range of academic disciplines across the university. Following a competitive selection process each September, 18 students are awarded a scholarship.
