Paul McCartney has opened up about some of the less publicised experiences of his life in The Beatles.

In an extensive interview with GQ magazine, Sir Paul revealed that he had a "wonderful experience" with two "hookers" in Vegas when he was in The Beatles, although he insisted that he is "just not into orgies".

He also revealed that one one occasion, perhaps two, in the very early days of the band he and John Lennon and a few other young men masturbated together in the dark at Lennon's house.

Of the encounter with prostitutes, the 76-year-old star said,  “There were sexual encounters of the celestial kind, and there were groupies.

“I’m just not into orgies. I don’t want anyone else there, personally. It ruins it. I would think – I’ve never actually done it.”

Sir Paul, who is married to Nancy Shevell, said: “There was once, when we were in Vegas, where the tour guy, a fixer, said, ‘You’re going to Vegas, guys – you want a hooker?’ We were all, ‘Yeah!’ And I requested two.

“And I had them, and it was a wonderful experience. But that’s the closest I ever came to an orgy…

“In the next room I think the guys might have ordered something else off the menu…

“I think John (Lennon) was a little more that way… I remember there was someone in a club that he’d met, and they’d gone back to the house because the wife fancied John, wanted to have sex with him, so that happened, and John discovered the husband was watching. That was called ‘kinky’ in those days.”

The singer was responding to a comment once made by Lennon that accounts of life in the Beatles had been sanitised.

He also said that the masturbation session in their early days, was "not a big thing".

"What it was," he said, "was over at John's house, and it was just a group of us. And instead of just getting roaring drunk and partying—I don't even know if we were staying over or anything—we were all just in these chairs, and the lights were out, and somebody started masturbating, so we all did."

They shouted out the names of people they fancied, including Brigitte Bardot.  However, joker Lennon spoiled the mood at one point, "I think i twas John sort of said, 'Winston Churchill'" said McCartney.

McCartney has just released the first single, Fuh You, from his new album, Egypt Station, which is out now and is his first since 2013's NEW.

“I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make..," he said at the video's release.  "Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”
