Online streaming of Missy Elliot up 676pc following Superbowl comeback
Missy Elliot's comeback at the 49th Superbowl was a major musical success for the star, with streaming of her hits shooting up 676pc after her appearance.
Spotify revealed that the track 'Lose Control' saw an increase of 1,396 per cent from one hour before the game to midnight US time.
Despite many young teenagers not knowing who the star was, her sudden rise in popularity propelled her into the Top 10 chart on iTunes.
Elliot took to Twitter to thank fans for the support, posting
"Woke up this morning feeling humbled! ... I love y'all I truly do".
Elliot laughed off the controversy over tweets asking who she was.
"The new kids think I'm a new artist and I'm bout 2blow (sic) up!"
"I appreciate u (sic) all from the bottom of my (heart). Been here over 20 yrs (sic) and counting".

Following the performance, Elliot became the number one trending search on Spotify and a number of her tracks appeared in the top 200 chart, with all three songs from the performance making it to the top 10.
Streaming of Katy Perry's back catalogue was up 85% following the performance at the Superbowl on Sunday, according to Spotify. Perry got a tattoo of the letters 'XLIX' on her right-hand ring finger to commemorate the occasion, and has released an NFL-licenced Superbowl 'eyelash dress', featuring sequin design and the number 49.
