He's just 21 years old, but Niall Horan is already worth a whopping £25m (€35m).

The Irish star racked up the impressive fortune after just five years with boyband sensations One Direction.

The young singer, along with his bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and former member Zayn Malik have all ranked in joint second place in the Top 20 Richest Young Musicians in the UK and Ireland.

According to a ranking of performers under 30 years old, which is part of The Sunday Times Rich List, the boyband heartthrobs are worth a combined fortune of £125m (€175m).

The young singers lost out on the top spot to singer songwriter Adele, who is worth a reported £50m (€70m).

Also featured in the rich list is flame haired artist Ed Sheeran with a net worth of £20m (€28m) and popstars Ellie Goulding and Jessie J, who both boast impressive fortunes of £13m (€18m).

His debut album was released less than a year ago, but crooner Sam Smith has already earned a staggering £12m (€16.8m) wealth after a hugely successful year in the pop charts.

Despite his massive fortune, Niall Horan proved he was a good sport as he caddied for golfer Rory McIlroy earlier this month.

The Mullingar singer carried the Irish golfer's clubs as he competed in the Par 3 competition in Augusta, Georgia.

The pop star took the place of Rory's ex Caroline Wozniacki who had caddied for the world number one for the previous two years of the competition.

However, after their high-profile split last year, the Down native called on his singer pal to help him out.

It provided a welcome distraction after a tumultuous few weeks for his band.

One Direction were dealt a blow last month when Zayn announced his departure from the group, saying he "wants to be a normal 22-year-old".

Explaining his reason behind his decision, the singer said, "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart.

"I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."

The band have decided to remain as a four-piece group after the split, as it was also reported that Zayn was considering embarking on a solo career.

After the announcement, Irish bandmate Niall took to Twitter to reassure fans that Zayn's decision would not stop One Direction from staying together.

"It's been a mad few days. Your support has been incredible as per usual," he said.

"This in turn spurs us on to make the best music we possibly can and put on great shows/tours for you.

"You are the best fans in the world and you deserve nothing less."
