The Irish will be flying the flag at Glastonbury this weekend as stars such as Laura Whitmore and Hozier make the annual pilgrimage to the popular festival.

The two Bray natives will be donning their wellies and heading to the Somerset festival to soak up some of its unique atmosphere.

Chart-topper Hozier has become one of the few Irish artists to have the honour of being chosen to perform at the uber-cool three-day event.

U2 played there in 2011 but no Irish act has featured in recent years.

Hozier will be taking to the John Peel stage tomorrorw at 1pm as he belts out his monster hit Take Me To Church.

Fresh from his appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, where he went down a storm with American viewers, he has also announced his self-titled album will be released on September 22.

Meanwhile, festival fan Laura will be turning on the style as she meets up with pals. She has the stage to herself this week at the Isle of MTV event in Malta, which saw 50,000 people in attendance.  Speaking about spending this weekend at the British festival, the MTV presenter tweeted: "Malta, it's been a blast.  But these legs need to get some wellies and head to Glastonbury now."

Another Irish star looking to let her hair down this weekend is TV presenter Amanda Byram, who was going there with good pal Fearne Cotton.  Mullingar star Niall Horan could also be making an appearance at the event, given that he has tow days off from hsi hectic Where We Are tour with One Direction.

He was seen enjoying a few beers and checking out all the action court-side at Wimbledon yesterday and could be popping to Glastonbury ahead of their Milan date tomorrow night.
